“Portrait of a tenant”

Today I had a conversation with a tenant. It lasted about ten minutes. For some reason I became intensely interested in his face, There was a brightness that came from his eyes with a passion  as if a light, literally,DSCF3518, came out of his eyes. He is or wants to be an artist. I told him it’s a long haul with long dry periods financially. He knows I have been a painter for close to  sixty  and was surprised I had not made a fortune. I wished him well and will encourage him at every chance.

A blast from the past.

Every once in a while I get a blast from the past. Last week I got an Email from somebody asking if I had painted a painting they had bought at an estate sale. It sounded like my work and I asked them to send a picture of it. It was mine. A work I had done in 1962 called ” “Two women and a leopard ” about 64 x 72. It was great to see it after so many years. I now have it cataloged.

My beautiful picture
” Two women with leopard ” 1962    64 x 76.

Studio Music

For years I listened to music in my studio on antiquated equipment. I always got hand me down stuff like record players, tape players, disc players. I got it into quite a mess and paint smeared. The last disc player I had just plain stopped working.

Now my son, who is a musician and teaches at Parsons,  heard of my plight. He came by with a gift one day, a stack of music stored in an Apple gadget about an inch and a half square and quarter of an inch thick. It has about a hundred or more songs on it. Beatles Jazz,Sinatra, Billy Holiday. It has made it all very simple to enjoy music. Have yet to get paint on it.Studio Music, 23 x 31, 1991, D5, ID 1035
